Goodbye 2013. Hello 2014!

January 01, 2014

Oh hello,
How about a personalized New Year greetings for you guys!!

First & foremost,
Happy 2014 to everyone!

I reckon it's gonna be an awesome year, so super awesome that the awesomeness is overflowing, and no one can handle it!! Then again, awesome year doesn't just come so easily... We should all work hard and make it happen! Maybe, it's really time to get down to work on the resolutions you've for yourself, stick to it, I am sure most of the resolutions will definitely be accomplished!

What did I actually do during the eve?
I told myself to clock another 10km run for 2013, really gotta end it on a... High note. Not really HIGH but then, make every run counts. I was actually feeling all sluggish, having to really sleep late every night, waking up KINDA early the next morning. I am one of the many humans who would only be satisfied with 8 hours of sleep HAHA but seriously, I haven't been getting my whole 8 hours of uninterrupted (I hardly have peaceful night because I am a super light sleeper, I will always dream, & waking up in the middle of the night. Really not a good thing & I've no idea how to fix it) sleep for so many days...

I did nothing much on the eve, & we were supposed to have steamboat for dinner at home but my cute mom just went back on her words when her friend came. It kinda spoilt the night because, in the end, dinner with her friend was actually canceled as well. Duh, like seriously. Ultimate Asian eyes. In the end, dad and his friend, together with my mom & aunt went over to the usual zichar place for dinner whereas my brother actually went to the gym.

Not realizing I was home alone until I went downstairs to prepare my own dinner, no pasta and stuffs because I was lazy. My dinner was as simple as two steamed mantou, a small bowl of corns (usual cup corns actually) which I microwaved with added butter & honey in it! Simple & quickest dinner for year 2013. Oh, then... I watched the countdown show on Channel 5... The Celebrate TV50. I actually attended the same event last year and it was pretty MEH, like seriously, we had to sit in the rain, performance line-up wasn't that splendid as well.

WHO KNOWS, it was all so different for year 2013. The performance and all were way better, probably 'cos they incorporated their celebrate of TV50 as well, with the red carpet and whatnot. What a miss... Anyhow, even though I'd missed the event but I get to clear my final 10k of the year! The opportunity cost was worth it. At least, I ended 2013 on a healthier note (HAHAHAHA).

THE 10K WAS A LITTLE DRAINING THAN USUAL, such an arduous run that I almost wanted to give up and just die. Probably, I didn't have enough food for the day. Yea, I know I had Japanese food with my mom & brother for NYE lunch, but I didn't order any mains for myself.

Bits of stuffs that I had for lunch.
Mom had Bento set whereas bro ordered Volcano Ramen which didn't even look appetizing at all.

Anyhow, I still managed to clock that 10k while watching the countdown show on Channel 5. I DID THE 10K ON A BLOODY TREADMILL FYI. Running on a treadmill is really 100x demoralizing if you ever compare it to running outside on the road/seaside/park. Every second on the machine seems to pass so slowly, the calories counts take forever to increase, let alone the distance that you have to clock in.

THIS.

The run was exceptionally strenuous but I was pretty glad that I did it in the end, and was attempting to finish the run before the clock strikes 12, I completed the run 4 minutes before 12. HAHAHA, please give me a pat on my back. Shortly after, fireworks were everywhere. It's actually nothing special because... Whenever there are any festivals in Malaysia, you get to see beautiful bursting colors painting the night sky. It is becoming a norm whereby, you don't get to see it so often in Singapore. The worst part is during CNY, the firecrackers, fireworks, all the fire fire stuffs are really TOO OVERWHELMING. You will feel as if there are bombings incident occurring in Malaysia. The noise pollution is really way too much, not to mention about the air quality...

BUT... I seriously freaking love CNY.
It's really the only festival that all the families, relatives, friends that will get around together. All the CNY goodies, and my maternal grandma (Hew's) whips up really really sumptuous meal, even my dad always says it's way better than compared to the Lim's. Not sure how this CNY will be like, since my paternal grandma just passed away 3 months ago, and paternal grandpa had long been away from us already. We are not really close to the paternal relatives, so... Quite unsure how would our CNY eve reunion dinner be like but nonetheless, it's still gonna be a joyous occasion! EAT ALL THE FOOD, WEAR ALL THE NEW CLOTHES, SING ALL THE CNY SONGS, PLAY ALL THE FIRE CRACKERS, AND RECEIVE ALL THE ANGPOW!!

(Halfway through composing this post, I headed our to the supermarket with mom & bro to get ingredients for our steamboat later. Finally, it's HAPPENING! Glorious food is gonna make love in my tummy hahaha)

So, it's a new year now.
Time seems to fly past really really really fast. In a blink of an eye, or just a finger snap, Viola! It's another year already. 2013 had been quite good to me, not marvelous but good enough.

2013
I flew to a few countries in the year. New Zealand during CNY, Indonesia during June for our mountain trekking trip to conquer... Mount Kerinci, and year end trip to South Korea which I get to lay my eyes onto the autumnal leaves, especially those in Naminara Island. IT WAS EYE-OPENING. Hmm, looks like I traveled during the start of the year, the mid, and year end. I should make it a goal to travel 3 times annually, during different seasons.

Then, I... finally completed my degree studies after my final paper in October. Results were out in November, so I am now officially a graduate (with online transcript) but still, I only get to don the gown and wear the grad hat in August, there's when our convocation will be held. I guess, I'm still considered a student until the day where I receive my certificates hahaha.

Actually, there is all for my 2013. HAHAHA omg, not fulfilling enough... I joined quite a number of races, but they were all fun runs with awesome friends. Color Run, Race The Dead, Illumi Run... No competitive races at all except for the Commando Challenge, but it ended up to be some sort of a "Fun" race because of the unforeseen circumstances (overwhelming crowd + faulty obstacles) that they had to open the fence and let participants to just complete the race in whichever ways they like (such as bypassing obstacles, not crossing the gantry, etc...).

We still came in 30th out of 150+ teams which by the way, they determined your placing by the total time taken by the whole group for the race. So... People can just bypass all obstacles and rush for the finishing line, meaning that they can have faster timing without having to attend all obstacles (which people had to queue for it). Nonetheless, it was quite a fun experience, I super loved the spa in commando style, Ice Bath to be exact which I got quite a bit of abrasions here and there due to the rough ice cubes.

Oh, my resolution for 2013...
To complete and obtain my driving license.
I did it.

That was the only resolution for 2013 hahahahaha okie, probably also to graduate from uni, which also I accomplished it.

As for 2014...

First selfie for the year HAHAHA

Anyhow, have a splendid year ahead!
New year, new goals, new life, new adventures.

Make every second counts!

I'm seriously very hungry so Imma end my post here and get ready for my first dinner of the year!!!
