Busan - Day 3

December 08, 2013

This girl showed me a video on how to fold a "Yang Mori" aka the lamb head, weeks ago before our trip to South Korea. Then, suddenly remembering the video, I folded the towel for her and made her wear it for a picture before heading out for breakfast!

And yes, this is the interior of OPS Bakery.
Almost all bakeries in South Korea have a dine-in section.

Sandwiches for her, chocolate croissant & red bean bread for me!
FYI, I really like buns/ bread filled w GLORIOUS amount of red bean paste.

What's a blog post without my face, right?

After our simple breakkie, we went on to taking bus to this... Temple at somewhere in Busan HAHAHA.
I totally forgotten the name, but the bus ride wasn't that long and surprisingly, a lot of people (tourists) actually took the public bus with us to get there too. Thanks to them (I think a group of Singaporean/Malaysian uncles & aunties), we managed to alight at the right stop. HEHE, just follow the crowd.

Picture above taken while we were strolling into the temple! Totally a great weather to stroll along the streets, the breeze & sunlight made the right temperature. Hmm, and probably it was the first few days in Busan, and weather in Busan wasn't as cold as Seoul & Jeju Island, even though it was transitioning to Winter soon.

Another shot taken along the way!

About 10-15mins walk, we finally reached the entrance!
You do not have to pay to go in at all.

Road stalls set up along the way...

The stalls sell almost everything, from snacks to fresh vegetable, souvenirs, apparels & whatnot.

Some statue...
Like I said, they have everything in Korean...

 The 12 zodiac line-up!

 My friend with her Zodiac.

 PAPER CUP.
For recycling purpose.

 Statue of Mother & Child.

 As mentioned.

No idea what's this pagoda about.

Some holy place...
Directly translated to... Erm...
Sea North No. 1 Buddha Holy Ground

 You read the signage?
Now you get why the tummy is all soiled.

Know how I passed my final sem smoothly?
I WENT THERE TO PRAY AND WISH FOR IT HAHAHA.
It's been a tradition that I go overseas at the end of the year, to their temples, and pray that I can pass the exams smoothly.

As we walk along the stairs to the temple... & some viewing point.
 The Temple

The viewing point!

 Some awesome sea views!

 With the golden deity statue!

THEY ARE REALLY PARTICULAR ABOUT RECYCLING.
Which is definitely a good thing.

 The zoom-in version.

 Braided my hair..
So I can look good in photos even with the strong wind hurling.

I think, that's some sort of story about stacking the stones, right?
Like the fishermen go out to the sea to do their fishing activities, family members would stack the stones, and if it doesn't topple, means it's gonna be a smooth sea trip for them or something... NOT TOO SURE.

Ajummas rocking their lives more than I do.
They actually offered Shini a piece of hardboiled egg but she didn't accept it.

She just needs some time alone.
Good place to clear the mind.

HOW, pretty nice view, right!

Off from the sunrise viewing point...
We walked further in to the temple.

Here's the wishing pond...
You gotta throw your pennies into the bowl but IT IS NOT EASY.

MORE SEA VIEWS, this time round, they are taken at the temple.

 Figurines!

This little Korean boy is doing his prayers to the Buddha statue.
Not just your normal praying, he did it with the... Standard praying procedure I guess.

This is the statue the little kid is praying.

The sunrise viewing point!
AND THEN, we took bus back to our town before catching another bus to Gamcheon Cultural Village!

Also known as, the South Korea's version of Santorini.
SERIOUSLY, it's a bad move not to split into 2 posts for my day 3 in South Korea...
I wanted to split it but then, it means I need to filter & reselect the photos again. HAHAHA so pardon me, this post is gonna be SUPER DUPER heavy with images. I've no idea why didn't I upload to Facebook but to blast them on my blog... Nonetheless, just enjoy the photos though!

Photos uploaded here are not edited at all because I am lazy.

Enjoy enjoy!!

 Gamcheon Cultural Village
Just right after we got off from the bus!

They used pants to grow plants in it!
Talk about recycling...

We didn't have proper lunch, so decided to buy this to try out & also, fill up the empty spaces in our tummy!

 Map of Gamcheon Cultural Village.

I super love the paintings on the walls!

Happy friend while waiting for our snacks!

 The lady boss.

 This is it!
It's filled with red bean (paste).

You would think it's a bird... Not until you zoomed in.

 Erm, mutated birds?

I've no particular idea on what's the story behind this...
It is found almost at every corner there.

Hahaha, when I was trying to get a picture...
This uncle came over and spoke to us, and he didn't sound Japanese at all.
My guess is, he was a local but from another part of South Korea hahaha and he said to me,"why not we take a photo together? For memento!"

 & then, he left...
It's time for my solo picture!

Got the authentic Santorini feel or not?

We had to purchase this booklet to get 2 postcards and different designs of stamp there!

One of the many many cramped alleys.

Inside the community centre, hahaha what a cute photograph!

In order to retrieve all the stamps/postcards before the village closes...
We really had to double up our speed and spent the remaining daylight available in the whole village.
There are so many uphills and stairs to climb, really a good place to get fit.

This flight of stairs really is WHOA.

Found this room filled with mirrors & the threads/thin ropes/strings.
No idea what purpose it serves because it's all in Korean.

 The stamps!
Mission accomplished!

 Hahahahaha

 Le Petite Prince

As we were making our way down to the bus-stop, we came across this section & there were some filming going on. NO IDEA WHAT SHOW IS IT, NO IDEA IF THERE'S ANY FAMOUS ARTISTES because I am not into Kpop so... Here's a photo of the filming crews LOL.

Last photo of the village before we take our leave!

Bus back to town area, then took subway to... HAHA I forgot where for dinz!

We found this shop at the corner of the street, the banner outside with their menu caught our attention!
AND IT IS REALLY CHEAP, LIKE CHEAP.

There's my cold noodle & it came w a plate of bbq beef slices. OMG, the noodles was enough for 2 servings and it was only, 3500kwr.

The sides, and Shini's kimchi or don't know what soup in the background!

Ordered extra dumplings to go with!
The whole dinner was what, 14000krw?

After dinner, we dropped by Jalgachi Market.
So I am guessing, the dinner place was at Jalgachi as well HAHAHA.

There are a lot of road stalls selling fresh seafood!

Yup, you can choose your seafood, they will prepare it for you.
But no, we didn't eat that for dinner.

Done with the fish market tour, we continued strolling along the street...
& came across a row of pet shops.

LOOK AT THIS:
HAHAHA THIS PUP REALLY HAS A WEIRD SLEEPING POSITION...
& this particular pet shop HAS ALL, ALL as in EACH AND EVERY of its puppies in deep slumber. It was like, all the pups seemed to be drugged...

& finally... We realized we need to get our breakfast for the next day, the day we were heading to Seoul already!!

 Nope, it's not OPS Bakery...
It's Tous Le Jours, another France bakery.

All the pastries & bread are super fresh and nice.
THEY ALL LOOK SO GOOD.

 Lego bricks sweets for you?

Since it was the last day in Busan (last day before we head to Seoul, and the REALLY last day, last day of our whole South Korea trip, we were back in Busan for another night because our flight was taking off from Busan), we decided to visit their underground market!

It's just like pasar malam but in the underground subway area.
That's Shini checking out the map!

& finally, really... Finally...
We got back to the train station and waited for our train back to Haeundae station!!

What a crazily-packed, fun-filled, fulfilling day!
Especially the time spent in Gamcheon Cultural Village.

A place, I think it's worth your time to visit.

 Shini's looking all so tired...

 She is really exhausted. HAHAHA

Commuters in the train also looking worn-out as well.

ANOTHER PICTURE OF US TO END THE DAYYYYYYY!

x

Thank you friends, who still actually read my blog hahaha.
I haven't been a regular/active blogger in recent years. Too many distractions already, so many new social media platforms, Facebook, Twitter (tho I don't use it so often now...), and INSTAGRAM. It's still the most frequently used app for me right now although there's a significant drop in active users. It's more like, people like your pictures but they hardly post theirs! Anyhow, really thank you guys! I will try to update more often.

AND I WILL, since there are still 4 days in Seoul, and Jeju Island respectively to be blogged about. Of course, it's gonna be filled with many many many many awesome pictures again hahaha.

Oh yes, last night I went for the first Illumi Run in Singapore!
The run was a blast, with so many line-up DJs at different locations throughout the race route.

It was probably the most happening running event of the year, though some might say that Color Run was still the most hip one but Illumi Run blasted music almost along the whole damn route. HOW EXCITING. It's just that... The whole stretch of route was not lighted up by the Blue Light, so the glowing paints on us could only be visible (glowing) when we were in the dark room/tentages.

It was definitely a crazy fun night, and that's also because of the people I went with.
AWESOME NIGHT with WONDERFUL FRIENDS.

You can visit my instagram for some of the pictures...

Goodnight, people!
Have an awesome week ahead!
