South Korea Trip - Busan Day 1

November 25, 2013

Naminara Island, Seoul, South Korea
November 2013

 It's yet another backpack holiday!
Not a wise idea if you intend to buy A LOT of stuffs back.

This trip is definitely the final trip for the year, and it was an impromptu one. It actually goes like this... Shini aka my bff and I would always plan for a year-end trip, and I told her I wanna fly to somewhere which is experiencing the autumnal season, and I wouldn't mind traveling to South Korea again (I went there 4 years ago, with my parents).

Guess what? In less than a month, we actually got the air tickets booked 'cos AirAsia was having 1 for 1 promotion. The only meh thing was we had to fly from KL, so we gotta book tickets from JB to KL, then KL to Busan but nonetheless, the total cost for the whole return trip was still much cheaper, we spent about at most, S$400 max for the air tickets.

McDonald's Breakfast before flight!
Totally a wrong move.

Time for some snapshot before taking off!
Me on the left, Shini on the right.

 Sometimes I wonder...
How does it feel like if we can literally just lie on the bed of clouds.

 Japanese Teriyaki Chicken
THEY SERVED US AT LIKE, 10AM.

Nasi Lemak
AND WE HAD MCDONALD'S AT 7AM.

The in-flight meals as recommended by my aunt weren't that bad, I still prefer the Japanese one to local Malaysian cuisine tho. If only they released the new menu when I was doing the online booking, I would have ordered something else 'cos the new in-flight meals all looked so GOOD on the new menu.

FINALLY, touched down at Busan International Airport.
The whole flight took us about 6 hours.

 Tapping WiFi.
COS I TOLD HER IT'S A MUST TO REPORT HOME.

No idea if I wanna take a photo of their airport or that...
I was trying to capture the guy in grey top.

 Why you so happy ah?
Must be the air in Busan.

 In the Airport Limousine Bus.
The bus was spacious, so spacious the seat could fit my backpack, messenger bag, and I.

 HEAVY EYE BAGS
ALWAYS HAPPEN WHEN WE ARE AT FOREIGN COUNTRIES.

 Map of Busan
Easily beat the size of Singapore.

The bus ride from airport to our hostel was about an hour ride.
It cost us... 7000krw if I remember correctly.

We alighted at Novotel Hotel, then making our way to the Popcorn Hostel...
We met a family who took the same flight as us, staying at the same hostel as we were!

Shini has always been my Human GPS
Navigating to our hostel (and we got to the wrong one LOL)

 When you see mirror,
You take photo.

 The reception at the hostel
THE RECEPTIONIST WAS A SUPER PRETTY KOREAN LADY.
(SHE LOOKS LIKE SOME KOREAN POP SINGER, WITH RED HAIR, FLUENT ENGLISH ANGMOH ACCENT)

Oh, we booked a room just for 2 people but...
They ran out of such room? We checked into a room with a queen size bed, 2 double-decked singles, with a personal toilet.

After some unpacking, all ready for some street-snacking, and dinner!
We were just exploring the streets that were near our hostel.

 DOKBOEKKI
Actually, it tasted the same in any Korean Restaurant in Singapore lol.
(3000krw)

 Kimchi
You will find this everywhere.

Some dining corner we had our dinner at
We went in because it was prolly the only place that was filled with locals/angmohs.

 MY DUMPLING SOUP
I thought it was gonna be just dumpling but guess what... It had noodles, quite a number of clams in it. TOTALLY WORTH MY... 4000krw? I would kill for seafood and the noodles was too much, it was enough for 2 servings.

Some cold noodles with sweet sauce!
GOOD FOR VEGETARIAN, it was all vege and I asked Shini, since when she becomes so healthy hahaha she regretted ordering it but I felt it was quite nice actually.

 OPS Bakery
I think it was some french bakery or something, Shini found out about this bakery shop online and people were raving about it...

 & me, being observant enough...
I was the one spotted this bakery shop. :D

It caters quite an intensive range of bread to cakes and desserts.
They serve breakfast in the morning as well, those English breakfast sets!

PARIS BAGUETTE
LITERALLY EVERYWHERE IN SOUTH KOREA.

 Walking back to our hostel
Busan is a quiet town, not many people on the street as you can see from the picture!

More pictures below of our Popcorn Hostel:
(It's quite a affordable, clean, comfortable hostel I must say... Just that the beds in South Korea are kind hard for me hahaha I guess they like it that way)

 Kitchen
Cookwares, utensils are all free to use.

They serve simple breakfast, eggs and toasts, tea and coffee, and if I'm not wrong, you gotta cook it yourself. That's how it work if you're staying in a hostel but no, we bought breads from OPS for our breakkie or that, we went to the bakery shops to get our breakkie done since all the shops have dining area for people to chill.

 Common room
and walls being chalked!

I think she was getting our bottles refilled...
& checking out the transparent fridge.

This was how we ended our 1st day/night in Busan.
Overloading of photographs... Oh well, picture speaks a thousand word and I shall continue the rest of my South Korea trip in separate post. Just the days spent in Busan, I have over 999 of pictures, let alone the days we traveled to Seoul and Jeju Island.

It's all gonna be heavy image blog posts.

Have a good night, & an awesome week ahead!
