Berkelah Waterfall Reconnaissance.

November 04, 2008

Hello! I'm back sound and safe from my Berkelah Waterfall Reconnaissance at Kuantan, Pahang. Let my do a short summarise for my 3D2N recce there. :)

Friday, 31st Oct 2008
I met up with the rest at Kranji MRT Station with Adam and Shini. We reached Singapore Custom at don't know what time and it was really buang but was glad that they cleared Malaysia Custom quite fast. We headed to City Square to purchase bottles of mineral water and bought some finger food/ snacks for dinner.

We then walked back to Malaysia Custom and took bus to Larkin Bus Terminal for our coach to Kuantan at 11.59pm. We had our proper dinner there at the Mcdonald's and washed up at toilets there too. We boarded the coach to Kuantan and that DRIVER was INSANE, LIKE TOTALLY. He was speeding all the while from JB Larkin Bus Terminal to Kuantan Bus Terminal. Journey would be 5 to 6 hours and we reached there in 3 hours and 47 minutes like, OMG.

I sat right at the back of the coach and most of the time my butt was like up and down the seat. Journey was damn bumpy and driver was speeding like none of anyone's business. I was afraid I didn't make it alive there but in the end, I made it. LOL. We reached Kuantan Bus Terminal at 3.47am and slept until 6.30am in the morning.

We had breakfast at the Roti Prata shop there. Shini and Junfeng were hilarious when communicating with the Indians there in Malay. I couldn't stop laughing man. Anyway, we walked to don't know where and took the shuttle bus to the don't know where and trekked in to the Berkelah Waterfall.

We reached there, settled down and started trekking to the summit but failed! I mean, not enough time duration but some of them made to the summit because they had to know the routes there and some of us returned back to the base camp. The guys were crazy in the river. LOL. The girls, only 4 girls. LOL. We bathed in the river like omg! Damn cold but better than nothing.

We had dinner and BF passed me my Kinder Surprise! It didn't make it out the camp, only the toy can be retrived back. Chocolate was inedible due to the flood. Anyway, we (girls) gossiped in the tent and slept shortly after consuming the MOTI-FOOD Siewling got with her. So many of them.

1.20am, it started to drizzling. Then, thundering and started to raining cats and dogs. It got heavier and guys who were sleeping on the mat outside had to come in to the tent with us. We slept for few minutes and the whole tent was like floating already, like water bed. HOW COOLZXS. We had to be evacuated to higher place to prevent ourselves being swiped away by the flood or whatever. Lol.

It sounded dramatic but I swear upon the god that whole thing was REAL. Everyone went up to keep ourselves safe from flood with bare feet. We only gotten our passports and electronic stuffs with us. Dumbass like WENYI took out his mp3 and handphone and put back into his bag when he heard them saying to take the passport with us. Now, his mp3 and phone are all dead. LOL. I'm glad that all my 3 phones survived, how coolzxs. HENG.

We stood there for like 2 hours or so or whatever. Lol. Everyone shared the poncho and asking each other whether we were alright or not. I mean, good to have people not being selfish and care only for themselves. :) Not to mention, Eugene was damn hiong. LOL. He was sick and still contacting the police and all since it was an emergency under the cold rain with only T-shirt and shorts on him. I think he's fine now cos after the flood he still looked the same to me. HAHA.

BF was nice too. Even FREDERICK said BF was REALLY NICE and did guys proud wor! During the evacuation, he didn't stand with me and was at the mid of where I was standing. Halfway at to the top. He was ensuring I was safe at all times, asking Willard to check on me for couple of times and shouting for me to check whether I was alive, I mean safe or not. LOL. He gave me his long sleeve shirt and he wore only his T-shirt with track pants. Not to mention, he lent wenyi his poncho too. Not bad, right! He cares for everyone who is with him. Wenyi must be damn touched. LOL.

SPA committees were great. :) They evacuated us safely and trying their best to save the situation. *Two Thumbs up!* So, when rain was getting smaller, we returned to the base camp one by one and rested in the tent with drenched bodies. I doubt anyone of us slept well. Haha. Junfeng said Shini was mediating and looked like a ghost when she was sitting at one corner when everyone else was lying down. LOL.

We packed up and polices were here! They were helping the group of people at the opposite of our base camp. They couldn't get over here due to the strong current at the river. The polices helped them to get over and we all trekked down to hut with the aid of the polices. Seriously, if you were to fall from there, you are not gonna make it back to Singapore. COOL?

Finally, we were out of there and sat on the lorries to the shop at the roadside for breakfast/rest. We even took photos with the people there, including the polices. COOL COOL? Initially, we had to have statement taken down but I don't know why in the end, we didn't have statement recorded and the COOLEST thing is, we took the police van and truck back to Kuantan Bus Terminal. COOL OR NOT, YOU TELL ME. LOL. First time, we were being chauffeured by POLICE.

We had A&W there and Bf's clique went to shop for clothes at The Store to change and we took the coach back to Larkin Bus Terminal. This time round, no more speeding and I slept soundly in the coach. :D We reached Larkin at around 8.40pm and took 170 to Malaysia Custom and walked to the roadside near City Square for dinner. :)

I reached home at exactly 12am. Unpacked my bag and washed them today, like FINALLY. I'm almost done with my recce except the fact that I lost my sports shoes. :( Never mind, as long I'm safe and that would be the most important thing.

Berkelah Waterfall Reconnaissance was fun and filled with experience man!
