Fireworks/ 2013. Marina Bay, Floating Platform |
First of all,
HAPPY 2013!!!
A little belated but nonetheless, it's just the start of a brand new year! I was supposed to blog a few days back but had been procrastinating pretty much lately... I shall just do up one post before I head out with my mom & her friend's daughter a.k.a the designer of our new house! We are gonna scout for some equipment to be installed in the kitchen and then, heading over to the new house to collect the key, & inspection.
The bottom line:
2012 seemed so short-lived for me. It was like,"hey, I thought I've just attended the Navy New Year's Eve Ball at Hyatt hotel (31st Dec, 2011) and now, I'm counting down for 2013 already?!" It just amazed me for how time really flies... I'm into my final phase of education before I eventually graduate with a degree this year (Provided if it's a smooth-sailing journey for me, passing all modules with good results).
Twenty Twelve.
Nothing really THAT awesome for that year but it was still an unforgettable one, I guess? I had mentioned in the past post, talking about how much I had traveled, stepping into another milestone of my life by turning 21, how lucky I was to be surrounded by a bunch of great friends, tho' I might had lost some along the way but always tell yourself, friends worth having, are the ones who would stick with you until you get old & die. It's good to have 2 friends, but it is always better to have 1 good friend. You are never alone, as long as you can have someone whom sharing awkward silence isn't awkward at all.
Flying from countries to countries.
As previously noted, I flew to Phuket (Thailand) - An impromptu trip planned in less than a week, Taiwan - A trip for mountain climbing with 3 good friends, Bangkok (Thailand) - 'Cos my mom didn't wanna sacrifice her trip just to send me to custom for that 1 day of school, thus, I was being psycho-ed to go, & Vietnam - Touring almost whole of Vietnam in 10 days, from HCM > Hoi An > Hanoi. Oh, besides all these countries, I took domestic flight with Mom & Aunt to KL for a short getaway, main purpose was to go over and celebrate my maternal cousin's 5th birthday before my Taiwan trip, and then later this year, after Christmas, Dad drove us all to KL from JB to attend paternal cousin's wedding. HA, yes, it was all about traveling...
21st Birthday.
I had 2 celebrations for my 21st, one was in Malaysia, on the eve of my birthday. The other one was in Singapore, during my actual birthday. Mom organized one for me back at home, people invited were mostly her friends and dad's friends but what could I ask for more when there was food, 2 birthday cakes, angpows from the adults, nothing that I needed to but just show my face and collect angpows, plus cake cutting. HAHA thank you, Mom!! The one held in Singapore was a last-minute celebration, hence, no better chalet could be booked 'cos we booked only a week in advance but really appreciated for the people who made their way down. Not a big hooha, but it was good to gather everyone for some catching up & drinking session which made everyone got wasted (for those who drank)!
Social Nights, Commissioning Ball.
Hahaha I had been invited to attend all these with different gentlemen who were either gonna get commissioned or just for social events, once they have passed out from the parade to the journey of becoming an officer or something... I had been feasting really well that year, all the events were at hotels, so... You know, the food was all banquet type. Abalone and whatnot. ^^v Anyhow, thanks guys, for inviting me to attend such event with you, tho' I might have looked off with makeup and all but hope you people enjoyed my company!!
Celebrate 2013.
The final activity I had before the clock strikes 12mn and HOORAY! It was a new beginning of a new year, likewise, every ending comes from a new beginning... Since it have already begun, or maybe it didn't start of as a blast, but when Dec 31st, 2013 is nearing, make sure you strive to do and change the ending with a happy note!
The Countdown.
Shini & I bought tickets to this Celebrate 2013 countdown event held at Marina Bay, Floating Platform hosted by Channel 5, sponsored by Volks Wagen. There were many local artistes performing except for 2 Kpop groups, which I don't even know who the heck are they, and then... There were KYLE PATRICK (He looks better with short hair) and Jersey Boys! They were awesomeeeeee!! Oh, it was a spoilsport when it rained the whole mother day... Literally, non-stop rain until 2 hours into the event then it sort of stopped raining or just having super light drizzles... My birkenstocks was all wet, and my feet got the stain from the sole. It's still here, the stains on my feet but fading as I bathe each time.
31st Dec, 2012.
I met up with Shini, wanted to go over to Ah Loy Thai at Shaw Tower for some Thai cuisine but the heavy rain killed our plan so we ate at the substitute we could find in Bugis Junction, the Siam Kitchen. Definitely... Not one that I would recommend tho' the staff was all friendly but the food was just so MEH. OH, hahaha we met a funny friends in pair who sat beside us. They ordered some drumsticks and it really looked like fried frog legs instead, it was so skinny HAHAHA they were complaining to each other about it and also to us, then the one sat beside me asked us not to laugh in a joking manner but hell, it was really hilarious just listening to their conversations!

Lunch was finally nom-ed at 3.30pm before we strolled around to look for bobby pins because it slipped off my mind to put the pins into my bag and also, the contact lens case I took out but left it on the table... Talk about memory, I have goldfish memory. In the end, I didn't manage to get any cheap ones so I used Shini's lousy quality bobby pins on my french braided fringe instead but with a few adjustment throughout the countdown event, it lasted me thru the night. Not bad at all!
Defeated by the rain in the afternoon, finally... It got lighter and we walked to Bugis Street (?), to Ah Chew Dessert for some Chinese dessert. I was disappointed in mine, the tofu skin was so smashed, you only could wash it down your gullet together but... I wanted to chew before I swallow/drink it! The only thing chewable was the Ginko nuts... Why like that? :(

Celebrate 2013 Green tag for > 18yo |
It was a letdown by the dessert but we still carried an excited heart to the Marina Bay, Floating Platform for the event to start! HAHA frankly speaking, it didn't much psyche us up until Gurmit Singh took over and hosted the event with Joanne Peh. Damn, he was such an awesome host, besides Hossan Leong... The Navy Year End Ball 2011 was hosted by Hossan Leong, he was a really hilarious chap!
Oh, we got to our seats (free seating) at about 7.10pm and music was flying at the stage by DJ Foxxxxxy already. It was still having heavy drizzles so everyone was seated with umbrella opened until few hours into the event, the host tasked us to celebrate the event with umbrella closed!! WOOHOO, finally clear view from our seats to the stage. About 9pm, Param finally reached and joined us for the rest of the countdown. Thank goodness, he drove... Hahaha, sending us back home after dinner + breakfast at CWP Mcdonald's.
The most insanity of the night was... There was a blockage at some exit and apparently, LTA only put the barrier right in front of the exit, they didn't give enough allowance time for drive to get notified. Param nearly got the car crashed onto it but his agility + the stability of his car, swerved nicely out of that lane safely. LOL I was seriously a little shocked... Then, before that, Shini was shouting "HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!" to passerby on the roads with her head sticking out from the sunroof as Param drove hahahaha probably a tick checked off from her bucket list.
Oh oh oh, we saw at least 15 GTRs and Subaru (most of them were GTRs) at some tunnel, starting to race or stuff like that? The engine sound was awesome and the way they took off... I thought I could only watch it in the movie but no... I just witnessed it on the 1st day of 2013!! Most of them had a girl at the passenger seats... Only 2 were alone in their respective cars... Could have gotten my chance, damn. JUST KIDDING LOL but anyhow, it was a damn spectacular view of the night man and they were using walkie-talkie to communication & a car to block of the road/lane for them so... Tell me about it...
It was really an awesome nightttttttttttttttttttttttttt!!!!
These few eventful episodes probably summed up my entire 2012, I'm not gonna go into details, talking about what were all the stuffs happened back then, not that I could remember every miniature details anyway! I hope you guys had enjoyed your year & may 2013 be an awesome year ahead for everyone!! With that, I must say... Put in effort to shape the year you've yearned for, nothing's gonna fall from the sky for you (maybe some bird shit) if you don't work for it. No pain, no gain!!
Hokay, hope everyone enjoyed their countdown and make this whole new year an unforgettable one with super duper awesome memories!!!
Few more pictures before I end!
